Comprehensive Power Pilates Equipment and Mat Certification, Power Pilates, Albany NY, 2011
My journey with Pilates began in 2001 when I was asked to be a practice body for a friend working toward her Pilates certification. From the moment I stepped onto the mat, I was captivated by the focus, precision, and attention to detail required in each exercise. At the end of that first session, I remember feeling a sense of exhaustion and exhilaration; my entire body had worked, stretched, and strengthened in ways I hadn’t experienced before— and I was hooked.
For years afterwards I continued as a student of Pilates, discovering more about the system and feeling the numerous benefits to my body. In 2005, I took the step to become certified as a mat instructor through Power Pilates in New York City, completing the comprehensive apparatus certification through Core Pilates in 2011. Through teaching this method over the past 20 years, I love seeing how the system works for every body. I believe in teaching the work to meet each person where they are that day—whether they’re recovering from an injury, working on their strength, or simply looking for a way to reconnect with their body. My passion for Pilates has continued to grow and deepen with every class, every client, and every instructor I’ve encountered. The more I learn, the more I realize there is always something new to discover and refine. It’s a privilege to guide others through this journey.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me engaged in another passion of mine, whether it's exercising or exploring my creative side. Recently, I taught myself how to reupholster a chair I’ve had for 15 years, and I’m now excited to dive into learning jewelry metalwork. I believe in the power of creativity, both inside and outside the studio, and I’m always seeking new ways to grow and express myself.
